MERGE4, creators of the best socks on the planet, proudly sponsored the The Ninth Annual TAC Skimblast at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, California, on July 15th, 2023. Drawing in skilled professional skimboarders from across the globe, this exhilarating event proved to be the largest skimboarding competition in northern California. As the waves crashed and the stoke soared, friends, family, and spectators united in a vibrant display of camaraderie and support.

The TAC Skimblast provided various divisions for skimboarders of all levels - from amateur men and women to seasoned professionals, even including a category for the "old-timers." This commitment to inclusivity and camaraderie fostered an infectious enthusiasm that permeated the entire event. The conditions were tricky with 2-4 foot swells rocky patches of sand. The top performers were able to find some clean open wave faces for technical combos. Adding to the excitement was a "best trick" contest on a retro round skimboard, where creativity knew no bounds, drawing cheers from the crowd and strengthening the sense of community among participants and spectators.

In a breathtaking display of skill, Lucas Fink emerged as the ultimate victor, claiming the prestigious title of Skimblast Champ. Fink was able to edge out Yahir Valencia in the final.  Fink's mastery of blasting huge turns and executing mind-blowing tricks with remarkable speed and power left spectators in awe. His awe-inspiring performance was a testament to the unparalleled talent showcased at the TAC Skimblast, solidifying his position as one of the world's most exceptional skimboarders.
