MERGE4: Purveyors of Awesome Socks
at LogJam 2023
On April 29 - 31, surfers from all over California gathered at Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz, for the longest-running vintage longboard event in the world - Logjam 2023. The event featured over 100 contestants ranging in age from 7 to 60+, all bringing their cherished vintage "logs," pre-1970 longboards weighing 20 lbs or more. And, true to the event's rules, no leashes were allowed, making for a truly classic longboarding experience.

Among the main sponsors of the event was MERGE4. The MERGE4 booth was set up on the point, and ambassador Jane Evans was there spreading aloha and delivering our awesome socks to contestants and spectators alike. She was joined by MERGE4 board member and Remarkable People Podcast creator Guy Kawasaki. Guy and Jane helped show off the incredible design and performance built into every MERGE4 sock.

Logjam is a California Coalition of Surf Clubs-sanctioned event that attracts competitive longboarders from Surf Clubs from up and down the state of California. For many of these clubs, Logjam is their favorite event of the year.
The contest was blessed with great spring weather and incredible surfing condition. Windansea Surf Club of La Jolla ultimately won the title with 11,401 points. Hope Ranch Surf Club (9,947) took second, Pedro Point Surf Club (9,395) took fourth, Santa Cruz's Big Stick Surfing Association (8,533) took fifth, and Estero Bay Surf Club (3,361) took sixth.
MERGE4 was thrilled to support the event, which has raised over $150,000 for worthy local non-profits and local college-bound high school surfer scholars. In 2022, Logjam! fundraising allowed Big Stick to donate to Surfrider Foundation Santa Cruz, Save our Shores, Save the Waves, Santa Cruz Scholastic Surf League, and Ride A Wave. It's clear that Logjam is not only a draw for surfers, but also for those who want to make a positive impact on their local community.
