Collaborator Spotlight: Jimbo Phillips

We’re shining the spotlight on one of our original collaborators: the legendary Jimbo Phillips! Jimbo hails from Santa Cruz, California (like us!) with bold, eye-catching illustrations that have long saturated the skate, surf and rock worlds. Jimbo was one of the first artists to join MERGE4 as a collaborator and his socks are some of our best selling styles. Read on to learn more about this amazing graphic artist and his collab collection with MERGE4!

The Jimbo Story

Born and raised in the art world, Jimbo’s father, Jim Phillips, designed all the artwork for Santa Cruz Skateboards in the 70’s and 80’s and was the creator of the iconic “Screaming Hand” logo.

Jimbo began working for his father at an early age, helping design graphics for skate decks, t-shirts, decals, and magazine ads. In the early 90’s, Jimbo started his own graphic design business, where he worked with major brands including Toyota, Nike, Snickers, Volcom and more. Jimbo’s work has been featured in international art shows throughout Europe, South America and Canada, Tony Hawk video games, and in collaborations with Bell helmets, Electric visuals, Volcom clothing, and Puma shoes.

If you want art that stands out, is highly recognizable, very collectable and is a great conversation piece, then Jimbo Phillips is your guy. As an artist, Jimbo pushes the envelope of what is possible on a skateboard, t-shirt, poster, or sticker. Keep your eyes peeled for Jimbo’s graphic assault!

Cycloptopus

Jimbo’s iconic cycloptopus graphic is one of our best selling crew socks for men. This slimy cyclops-meets-octopus oozes Jimbo’s signature artistic style. We love the vibrant contrast between the deep purple tentacles and the light blue background on these socks. They really POP when you’re cruising out and about in the world!

Creature

Slime Lite

New to the MERGE4 lineup are these Slime Lite socks from Jimbo Phillips. Dripping with lime green slime, these cool socks add the perfect amount of ooey gooey to your getup. Eye Lite
