Rolling Into the Classics at Logjam! 2025
The 2025 Logjam! was everything we love about old-school longboarding and Santa Cruz surf culture—pure style, solid surf, and serious stoke.
Held April 26–27 at Pleasure Point, the Big Stick Surfing Association’s legendary “old board, no cords” event brought in over 100 competitors, ages 7 to 70+, from across California and beyond. It’s the longest-running classic longboard contest in the world, and —it lives up to the hype.

Surfers showed up with their vintage logs—pre-1970 longboards that weigh 20+ lbs—and took to the waves with no leashes, just skills and soul. It’s the kind of event where style matters more than spray, and where graceful noserides and smooth cutbacks earn the biggest points.

Logjam! is a California Coalition of Surf Clubs sanctioned contest, drawing teams from all over the state: Pedro Point, Malibu, Windansea, and beyond. For many of these clubs, this is the event of the year.

We were haapy to be part of the action again this year—MERGE4 provided socks for the top placers, because if you’re going to win in style, you might as well wear it too.
Huge shoutout to the Big Stick Surfing Association for keeping the aloha spirit alive and running such an epic event. Classic boards, great waves, and a community that’s all about respect, fun, and timeless surf culture. That’s something we’ll always back.
