Spidey x Santa Monica Airlines: The Next Chapter
We've been making socks with Spidey DeMontrond for a while now. It started with his signature bamboo line, the stripes and the polka dots, back when he told us straight up, "I'm a sucker for a great sock." He wasn't kidding. Spidey cares about the details more than almost anyone we work with. Colors, stripe widths, how the thing feels on your foot after a full day. He's been dialing in socks with us the same way he's approached everything since he turned pro at the Capitola Street Style Contest in '85, right down the road from us.
So when the idea came up to do something with his signature Santa Monica Airlines deck, it made sense to do it with him.

SMA doesn't need much of an introduction if you've been skating a while. Skip Engblom started it in 1978, after Zephyr and the Z-Boys, and it became one of the rawest brands California ever. Natas, the Panther deck, the early days of street skating. The winged logo is one of those graphics that's been burned into skateboarding for almost fifty years.
The new sock puts those wings in their classic red, white, and blue with Spidey's signature on it. Same comfort and arch support you get from the rest of our line. It's a little different from his bamboo stripes and dots, but you can still see his hand in it.

For us, this one feels like a full-circle moment. An awesome skater, a Venice legend of a brand, and a sock company from Santa Cruz, all on the same pair.
They're in stores and up on the site now alongside the rest of Spidey's stuff. Grab a pair, skate them, and let us know what you think.
