Sublime And MERGE4 Release Two New Socks
The Sublime/MERGE4 collaboration announces the addition of Everything Under the Sun and Went to the Moon: two fresh graphic socks celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of the most influential bands to evolve out of the hazy/sunny Southern California good times of the 20th into the 21st Century.
Sublime’s a band of Long Beach rag-tag punks that goes from playing backyard parties and selling cassettes out of the trunks of their cars to creating an entirely new and revolutionary blend of music. They brought together a community of reggae, tattooed-punks, Rastafarians, surfers, Chicanos, hip-hoppers and others, defining an entire era and lifestyle that lives on – 30 years later – and stronger than ever!
Graphic socks celebrating, and commemorating Sublime is right in line with the philosophy of MERGE4 who are in the business of producing, warm, colorful, sturdy socks decorated with graphics from legends in the world of surfing, skateboarding, music and art.
The graphic for Everything Under the Sun is homage to the cover of Sublime’s boxed set of 60 demos, live tracks and alternate takes – a collection spurred by popular demand and a fan petition.
The sun/sea/fish graphics for Everything Under the Sun were created by legendary LBC artist Opie Ortiz and now shine from a classic crew sock: combed cotton, terry looped foot, self-adjusting welt cuff, reinforced heel and toe, elastic arch support, awesome y-heel sock is athletic ribbed for your pleasure.
Lou Dog (1996 – 2011) is legend among Sublime fans. Named after Bradley Nowell’s grandfather Louie Nowell, this Dalmatian was the band’s heart & soul – wandering on stage during live performances and featured on album covers and in lyrics.
Went to the Moon feat. Lou Dog coming and going – in green and yellow – are featured on that same classic crew sock.
